There was a very positive announcement today in the fight against Coronvirus with the news that all adults in Northern Ireland could now book a Covid-19 vaccination. Over 70% of the adult population in NI have received their first dose with 40% having got both jabs. This can only help us return to normal life.
With many wondering if a sunshine get-a-way will be possible this summer Chief Medical Officer Dr Michael McBride has said that Northern Ireland's version of vaccine passports to allow travel abroad should be announced in July. He added that the vaccine passes will initially use a written format before moving to a "digital solution". Possible uses for the so-called passports — other than travel — has yet to be decided.
In other news Arlene Foster has been awarded six figure sum in damages from TV presenter Dr. Christian Jessen. The Celebrity doctor is to pay Arlene Foster £125,000 in damages for a false tweet that she was having an extra-marital affair. Mr Justice McAlinden awarded the record figure to Northern Ireland's outgoing First Minister for the TV star's "grossly defamatory" and completely unfounded rumours.
Have a good evening.
