Guide to Summer Camping, and how to Stay Cool

Hi there, Since we're now in July, I thought I'd revisit the subject of how to Stay Cool while Camping in the Summer Most of us love camping during summertime, but the heat can be a major factor. So, based on experience, here are a few things that can help. Not so much camping hacks as common sense!  So, if you're lucky enough to be camping in a hot part of the world:

Make Sure You Try to Camp in a Shaded Area Maybe obvious but always try to pick a shaded site/area. In fact it would be one of the main factors I would consider before picking a camping spot or site.  (That said, also look up so there are no loose trees or branches.)   If natural shade is not possible, bring it with you. Tarps are available that can be set up above your tents with guy-lines and poles. Ideally reflective (aluminized), but at least a bright color.

Being Beside Water Always Helps Temps tend to be slightly lower beside a large body of water. Plus it promotes airflow. As well as being handy to cool down in, of course..

When Choosing a Tent, Choose One That is a Bright Color Remember it'll reflect more of the sunlight. Check them out >>>   You should also choose a tent with lots of ventilation options, and possibly even a mesh tent. Airflow is key, such as our XTENT.   Supplement natural airflow with fans - lots available inexpensively online

Don't Forget the Basics Sunscreen, loads of water, limit alcohol, and if possible avoid strain at the hottest part of the day. Think hammock in the shade! Did someone say hammock? >>>

Insulated Walls Insulated walls work to keep hot air from infringing inwards, and will help to keep internal temps down. If you want the optimum solution, it is using the insulated walls along with a mobile Air Conditioner.   Again, there are several available online, some expensive and some less expensive.
