Q: "How do I juice prep and save my beverages?"
I get this question all the time, and I thought you might have this question, too! So, I put together 4 quick steps to save your juices and your smoothies.
1. Batch Prep Juice or Smoothie Ingredients π
Pick your favorite recipe and double, triple, or quadruple the ingredients based on how many juices/smoothies you want to have ready-to-go ahead of time. I like to make 6 beverages at a time since it seems to be the perfect amount for supplementing my diet throughout the week.
2. Juice and Pourπ°
Make your juice/smoothie in a juicer or a blender. My favorite blender is _____ and my favorite juicer is ______. Then, pour the beverage into your glass juice bottles!
3. Prepare and Store π¦
Depending on whether you're planning to refrigerate or freeze the beverages, you will want to prep and store the bottles a little differently.
Refrigeration: If you're planning to refrigerate the beverages, pour to the top of the jars so it creates a "seal" when you cap it. This will keep it from oxidizing. You can keep juice in the fridge for up to 24 hours if you have a centrifuge-type juicer, and 36-72 hours if you have a masticating juicer. If you storing a smoothie, then it will keep for 2 days in the refrigerator.
*Tip: If you don't have enough juice to fill your bottles to the top, then add some water or coconut water to make it stretch.
Freezing: If you're planning to freeze your beverages, don't pour to the top - leave a 2-inch space. This is important because liquids expand when freezing, so it needs room to expand safely. If you don't leave room for it to expand, the juice bottle will break.
4. Enjoy Later! π
Refrigerator: Take it out of the fridge, and enjoy!
Freezer: You can thaw your beverages out the day of or overnight before you want to drink them. The juices usually take several hours to thaw out. Do not thaw them under hot water, as the quick rise in temperature may shock the bottle and cause it to break. It's also not great to heat the delicate nutrients inside your juices.
I hope these steps helped you! Feel free to respond to this email if you have any other questions!
Love + Juice,
