Last night marked a huge win for hemp businesses across the great state of Texas. Lt Gov Dan Patrick was not able to secure a path forward on his donor funded THC ban. His attempts died in the Texas House last night.
What Texans weren't given was property tax relief, flood relief, and many other things our Governor promised us due to Dan Patrick's need to put his own desires over the will of the people. He held bills hostage and forced the hemp ban to the forefront and wasted time on this non-issue.
As of now, hemp remains legal in Texas, but we still require common sense regulation. Gov. Abbott could pass an EO providing this, but we are still waiting to see what his office does. A third special session could be called but Texas lawmakers have been working since January, and nothing has been accomplished because of LT. Gov Dan Patrick. Democrats also walked out and went AWOL which also put uncalled for delays in the process.
So, are we free and clear? For now, yes. Come 2027 when the Texas Congress meets again, we will see what is placed on the agenda. Another factor will be Lt Gov Dan Patrick's reelection come November of 2026. If re-elected, Patrick will most assuredly call for another full ban and the fight will resume, but it will be a new group of lawmakers meeting and not the same ones the last time around. That could be good or bad. If Abbott signs an EO this would curtail many future issues.
As it stands, we're still here and still standing. We made trips to Austin to testify on behalf of all of our customers and veterans that use our products for better relief than the opioids prescribed to our nation's finest. We are still shipping directly to your door!
