"The outside is the only place we can truly be inside the world." ― Daniel J. Rice
| | To date, America's National Parks Online Store has donated over $166 million to the National Park Service. Their wide range of park specific products appeals to every demographic. They are very much worth supporting. They look after the outside, so we can enjoy it.

5 Less Obvious Things to Remember when Packing for Your Camping Trip
| | 5. Medicine and First Aid
| | I'm not saying that you need to visit your doctor for prescriptions. But a basic kit, with appropriate first aid kit and meds is very important. Especially if you're traveling a little off grid. Even if you're not, this is always important. It sucks to be looking for a pharmacy in unfamiliar surroundings. Nothing fancy required. Just the basics.

4. Duct Tape and Paracord | | Ok. I've been lucky enough to camp a lot. And I cannot count the amount of times that I have needed either really good tape, and / or paracord. Both are cheap, but can be invaluable. And it's certainly better to be looking at them instead of looking for them! I like Gorilla tape, but there are other brands. And the cord is available in most hardware stores. Pack them. Thin, slitting the wall of your tent, or broken guylines that need to be repaired…
Again, a must. There are brilliant examples online. I'm generally a Victrinox or Leatherman user - currently the Wave+. But you'll find one that suits. They are small, and can do an array of jobs around your campsite. Check This One Out! >>>
2. Ear Plugs and Facemask
| | When outdoors, you're not always insulated from noise (unless you're in a CULLA!). Unfortunately noisy neighbors in the tent next door do exist. As do 'snorers'. Call these an 'insurance policy'. Also good to be able to stay asleep for a couple of extra hours after the sun comes up. Some will say you're a 'wuss'. I'd say you're smart. Camping doesn't have to equal no sleep! | | | | |
Might not fall into the less obvious things to remember, but you'd be shocked at home many forget. Bug spray (suitable for the area you're camping at and the local bugs), scented candles that keep the little pests away, and GOOD bug mesh on your tent doors and openings are some requirements. And make sure they are kept closed - always. Also do your research on the areas you're camping in. We don't want any bigger creatures slivering into our tents!

3 New innovations to Help Enjoy Your Hikes
| | 3. Cross Trail Poles OK, I've gone through a fair few poles in my time. And I know the specialists will tell me to get trail running poles and / or hiking poles - separately. Otherwise they won't work properly. Up-to last year I would have agreed. But I picked up a pair of 'hybrid' Leki poles. Or, to be transparent, they sent me a pair. And I have to say, I'm converted. They actually work for both. Check it out >>>

2. Do not skimp on your footwear in the outdoors
I'll say that again. Do not skimp on your footwear in the outdoors. I'm a Salomon guy. You can see that from our YouTube videos, although my most recent ones have a leaking issue. But I've had enough of them to trust the brand. These are the 'Daddy' of them all.. Salomon X Ultra 4 and for lighter work and Salomon Quest 4 GTX for the rough stuff! More Info >>>

1. Get a Stable Stove We get a lot of wind here in Ireland, as you can imagine. And I absolutely hate it when the wind blows out the stove, without me knowing it. I've been known to toss one or two into the lake… This new one from MSR is for that! Find Out More >>>
