Great Striking Stuff For Less- 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed | | The De La Riva is one of the most difficult guards there is to pass. You get stuck in DLR and all of the sudden someone is under neath you, on your back, or worse, you're in a triangle or omoplata. Not a fun place to be. Here are some tips to help you beat the DLR easily. - POSTURE - posture is everything against someone with a good DLR - make sure you're able to get into a good head quarters position and DO NOT let them rotate your knees.
- GRIPS - Grips are SUPER important when passing DLR - You need to maintain control of the free leg (not the DLR hook) and control there hip mobility with some sort of upper body grip like a collar. The less they can move their free leg and adjust their hips, the less attacks they have.
- Try to focus on one pass. The knee cut and the leg drag are arguably the best passes from DLR - unless you're very experienced, the back step is dangerous and a lot of other fancy passes can also put you in unnecessary danger. Once you have achieved good posture and grips, keep it simple, force a knee cut or look to drag the free leg.
