"The wilderness rescued me. I have been shaped by my experiences in the great outdoors. Feeling comfortable in the wild gave me the confidence to be who I am, not who others want me to be. " – Ben Fogle

5 Most Popular Outdoors Activities - The Stats
| | 5. Car, Backyard and RV Camping
| | We knew it had to be here! The world loves camping - who would have guessed?!? It's good for the soul, and we should do it much more often. PS - use a CRUA! Shameless plug…Tried the RV thing a few times as well and it's grouped in here. I can understand the 'marmite' reactions though.

4. Freshwater, saltwater and fly fishing | | They say it's the most participated sport in the world. By a lot. So no surprise to see it on the outdoors list. It's ever-present. By the way, Shrimp, Salmon and Tuna are the most consumed fish in North America.
| | | | |
3. Road Biking, Mountain Biking and BMX(ing!)
| | A more surprising listing I would have thought. We know that biking is becoming more and more popular, but this is astounding growth. A new report from StreetLight Data has shown that bicycle trips in the US have increased by 37% from 2019 to 2022. So get pedaling. There are lots of bike carry options out there. CAMPMOR are offering some value with 30% off some Thule stuff. Here is One >>>
| | | | |
2. Running, Jogging and Trail Running
| | OK, this is a real leader now. Statista tells us that, in the United States alone, almost 50 million people participated in running and jogging in 2021. The fitness and health benefits are very well documented. Running shoes appropriate to the terrain are crucial though. I've spoken about Solomon before as a lot of my jogging is on rougher terrain. And I'm reinvesting soon and considering Genesis. | | | | |
No shock here. Still one of my favorite outdoor activities. I do most of my hiking in Ireland these days, but I think the one that sticks out in my mind is Yosemite. I spent a week hiking and camping there in my younger days, and found it utterly compelling. I hope to be back some day. Read Some Details >>> | | | | |

3 Crowdfunded Outdoors Innovations
| | 3. Zero Breeze Again, this is one I've mentioned before. You know how we're all about temperature control. Please don't underestimate the importance of that when planning your camping trip. We use Zero Breeze. It's not cheap but works well. If outside your price range, take a look around as there are cheaper options that may work just as well. Check YouTube reviews. I just can't vouch for them as this is the only one I have used. Check It Out >>>

2. Peak Design
A legend among Crowdfunders. Peak Design have held some epic crowdfunding campaigns. Nowadays, always in the millions of dollars range. There is a reason for that - their stuff works! And I have to say, it looks cool. If you're looking for a practical backpack you'd do worse than their everyday backpack. Take a look at them. Tell Peter that CRUA sent you! More Info >>>

1. Tropicfeel I've been a big fan of this brand for a while now. Again, crowdfunding aficionados. While I don't currently have a pair, I do know a certain someone, (ahemmmm Vinny!), who I think must own every one of their Adventure Sneakers at this stage. Needless to say, he likes them!
