Hi Friend,
This is Nate, the founder and CEO of Felt+Fat. I'm writing today to wish you a happy Thanksgiving. This year has been a lot. It's been beautiful and arduous and throughout it I find myself increasingly grateful, particularly for community.
In July of this year, a good friend of mine named Jeff Kahn passed away. I met Jeff through the business, he was my landlord for many years at Maken Studios. Initially I didn't trust him (who trusts their landlord?) but in time his passion and depth of humanity brought me around. Jeff and his wife Suzanne (a fellow artist) shared a love that my wife Katherine and I looked up to. They were supportive and loving when our daughter Willa was born in 2022 and they became the first investors in Felt+Fat that same year when we came up with our expansion plan.
The life of a small business owner can be isolating and exhausting. It becomes easy to neglect relationships and community, but Jeff's example in life and his battle with cancer brought into razor sharp clarity the importance of tending those gardens. So, today I want to express my gratitude for my friends and community.
Thanks to our incredible production team at Felt+Fat. Thanks to those of you who have chosen to support our recent community capital raise. Thanks to our 2024 collaborators: Megan Rapinoe, the team at Death & Co., our many Chefs. Thanks to our growth and creative team along with our fulfillment team who work tirelessly in this season. Thanks to you for following our journey.
I am grateful for the opportunity we've been given to create something special and for the community we've built along the way. I am grateful for my friend Jeff.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Nate
