New message from Gordon Ryan

From Gordon Ryan:

Securing the score- in our sport, its not the takedown that counts. Its the control AFTER the takedown that counts.

That precious 3-5 second window that determines the outcome of many matches. Contrary to classic wrestling, its not just "how can we put them down," its "how can we hold them down?"

The reason that the dagestanis have come to dominate MMA is because they have done a pretty good job at answering this question.

Winning the scrimmage goes far beyond the takedown. The action doesnt stop when a takedown is hit and your opponent turns belly down.

The action STARTS when the takedown is hit and the bottom man doesnt want to stay down.

Learning how to TAKE people down is a skill, but learning to HOLD people down is another one.

In this instructional, we learn how to hold an opponent down long enough to get a score πŸ˜€
